Catoctin Mountain
Trains and Hobbies is located in Thurmont, Maryland, midway between
Frederick, Maryland and Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. We'd be delighted
to have you visit us and encourage you to enjoy the restaurants and
other attractions in our small town located near US Route 15. Thurmont
has approximately 3,500 residents, a number of delicious country restaurants,
small shops and is a great launching point for exploring the Catoctin
Mountains and parks.
We'd like you to
see our store, but make it a point to participate at numerous shows
throughout the year in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia. We especially
like the Greenberg shows and many of the smaller, local exhibitions
in our area.
Be sure to stop
by and meet us.

MEET
OUR FRIENDLY STAFF!
MARCIA
& PAUL
We're the owners of Catoctin Mountain Trains and Hobbies. After a year
of preparation, help from our friends & our children - Wendy & Chip
- we opened CM Trains on September 1, 1990. Since opening, we take pride
in keeping the best selection of new and old trains available to collectors
and hobbyists like you.
Our love of trains
started with Paul when he received his first train set on Christmas
Eve when he was 6 months old. It became a tradition in his family to
set up the Lionel trains under the Christmas tree every year. We continue
to set up the Lionels under the tree and have passed the tradition on
to our children.
Paul has been an
active post-war Lionel collector for more than 35 years. As MTH
Electric trains have become more popular, Paul's interests with
MTH have also grown. As he tried to acquire trains, Paul realized
that the Northern Maryland area needed a shop like ours.
Marcia has been
right behind Paul, keeping him on track with his goals and dreams. When
you come in, you'll probably find Marcia hiding in the back, paying
bills, answering the e-mail, and challenging herself to an occasional
game of solitaire on the computer to unwind.
The
one thing we like about our business is seeing the look on the customers'
faces as they walk through the front door and see all the trains. We
are delighted to hear the stories and memories our customers share from
their childhood. As customers return to our shop, we have the valuable
opportunity of making many new friends.
Today's market brings
many wonderful choices. Paul and I hope to be able to guide you through
your decisions by assisting you with selecting great trains. We are
helpful and spend time with you to understand your needs and budget.
Our answers to your questions are always straightforward and honest.
We enjoy what we do and are here to serve our valued customers.
We both look forward
to seeing or hearing from you. Give CM Trains a try!
